Twenty-four years ago, our founders recognized the importance of post-placement care for birthparents. Today we recognize that adoption is both a human rights and reproductive rights issue, and as such, On Your Feet Foundation has become the leader in comprehensive post-placement support for birthparents, a demographic that has historically been under-served within the adoption community. We do this through case management, access to adoption-competent therapy, therapeutic retreats, education and counseling grants, adoption education and community-building. We don't work with expectant parents, or parents considering adoption, but for the past 25 years we have been helping and supporting birthparents - parents who have already relinquished a child or children - and we know firsthand that adoption, as it is currently practiced, needs ethical reform. The birthparents who come to us tell us so, over and over again. They tell us that if someone had simply supported them, if resources had been available, if anyone had asked what they actually wanted, things might have been different. We listen to them, and today, we are sharing what we've learned from them.

Dr. Gretchen Sisson, a former Activism in Adoption speaker and upcoming honoree at Birthparent Support Alliance's 2026 gala joined us to discuss her book, Relinquished, and how her decades-long research study and subsequent findings can inform cultural approaches to adoption.

Yesterday, we made our new name change and organizational structure changes official. Today, our Executive Director, Alexis Eyler, MSW, shares with you all why those changes were necessary.

Thank you for recognizing the importance of post-placement support:
